Think has been producing EVs since 1991 and the Think City is the world’s first ‘ready-to-market’ urban battery electric vehicle," Richard Canny, Think CEO said in a release.
"It is available for sale now in some European countries and we are inviting auto show visitors test drives in a production Think City, which will soon be manufactured here in Finland with our partners, Valmet Automotive.”
The EV features at the time three types of batteries: two lithium-ion (made by A123 and Enerdel) and one sodium (made by Mes-Dea). It has a a top speed of only 100 km/hour (62 mph) and can travel, during summer and with the heater off, anywhere in between 170 km (105 miles) and 203 km (126 miles).
Think is currently undergoing pre-launch in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria and Spain. According to its manufacturer, the car, small and flimsy as it may seem, underwent and passed 50 sled tests and more than 20 full vehicle crash tests.
“Finland will soon be Think’s manufacturing base, therefore it is significant that the company is exhibiting the Think City at the very first Helsinki Electric Motor Show," Ilpo Korhonen, Valmet Automotive president concluded.
