Rumors about the Fiat Uno’s comeback to some emerging markets seem to be true, as we can see in the pictures posted by Novidades Automobiles, which have apparently been obtained from the Brazilian Trademark Office.
The images show a pre-production model so you shouldn't worry and plan to hide your children on the car’s reveal day as it is a known fact that this kind of prototypes aren’t the prettiest automotive creations in the world. You shouldn’t be to happy either, because such a low cost product will never be a big looker.
But let’s get to the details. A Skoda-like hood fold which separates the bonnet in two areas accompanies the asimetrichal front grille, which has 3 separate air intakes. The front of the car however is dominated by the large, black, air-thirsty mouth. The second picture shows the design of the car's taillamps.
According to Novidades Automobiles the range of engines will include a 75HP 1 liter ethanol unit and a 1.4 liter engine, related to the company’s current 1.4 liter fire one.
The original Fiat Uno was a subcompact car launched in 1983. The vehicle was given a serious facelift in 1989. It even had a performance version, the Uno Turbo I.E. which offered 105 HP until 1991 and 120HP after that. These had to carry around under 900 kg. Production in Italy ceased in 1995 but continued for years in other countries.
As it has been heard, the Uno will only be destined for Brazil and a few other emerging markets.
