Finally, the South Korean automaker has revealed its intentions to drop the curtain behind the eagerly-anticipated, critically and peer-acclaimed 2024 Santa Fe in Seoul, Frankfurt, London, New York, and Los Angeles.
Less than a month ago, Hyundai staged one of its usual preview launches of an all-new model they are about to sell sometime next year. That's not the first time they have done the staggered presentation, with a quick look at the exterior and interior followed by a proper reveal with all tech goodies in tow.
However, this time something changed. The model in question was the all-new, fifth-generation MX5 Hyundai Santa Fe, and it premiered the latest styling dare from the South Korean automaker. It seems the designers keep innovating and pushing the boundaries in the best kind of way, as Hyundai has some quirky and daring models currently in its lineup – including the zero-emissions Ioniq 5 and 6, the Tucson compact crossover SUV, or the Elantra sedan, among others.
Interestingly, Hyundai decided that a change of styling pace would be welcomed for the fifth iteration of the mid-size crossover SUV named after a place in the United States and is credited with vastly encouraging Americans to adopt the brand during the early 2000s. Now, instead of sweeping cues, we have a fully-fledged boxy design that was quickly linked to Land Rover's modern style of the iconic Defender.
However, it's (probably) still a unibody mid-size pickup truck with gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. We don't know for sure because the company only discussed the "bold new design optimized for effortless outdoor lifestyles" during the initial styling preview. Luckily, we also took a peek inside the seven-seat cabin. Otherwise, we were left staring at the white and bronze hues of the exterior.
Now, the upcoming Toyota Grand Highlander and Honda Pilot three-row competitor is almost ready to share all of its secrets, according to Hyundai's 'Worldwide' social media channels. On YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook (at least), the company set to show us the all-new Santa Fe digital world premiere teaser, which curiously doesn't feature the vehicle even for a second and instead takes cues from the namesake city and the 'old Santa Fe trail' to garner hype.
Well, at least the cat is already out of the bag, and we'll know what its nine lives are destined for soon enough. More precisely, the official worldwide introduction will take place on August 10 at 18:00 (Seoul), 11:00 (Frankfurt), 10:00 (London), 05:00 (New York), and 02:00 (Los Angeles). Right then and there, hopefully, we will get to find out more about the platform, interior features, powertrain goodies, and availability across its most important markets and regions. If not, I'm going to be thoroughly disappointed…
