If this one-of-one supercar seems vaguely familiar, that’s because the Need for Speed franchise featured it back in 1997. To be offered without reserve by RM Sotheby’s next year, the Isdera Commendatore 112i is put up for sale by none other than the German company that produced it.
Named in honor of Enzo Ferrari, chassis number W09112218PWJ02001 shows less than 10,500 kilometers (6,525 miles) since new. The twelve-cylinder engine isn’t Italian, though. A 6.0-liter Mercedes-Benz M120 channels in the ballpark of 400 horsepower to the rear wheels with the help of a RUF Porsche manual transmission that was specially adapted for this application.

Thanks to a bespoke flywheel and a sixth gear, the 1993 Isdera Commendatore 112i is capable of 340 kph or 211 mph. Tons of power and high-ratio gearing don’t translate to outrageous top speeds on their own, and this gets us to the quirkiest quirk of this blast from the past. More to the point, a roof-mounted periscope mirror enables a drag coefficient of 0.306.

Originally intended to race at Le Mans, the car was exhibited at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show under a different name – the Silver Arrow. Isdera reacquired the car from a Swiss collector in 2016, who modified it with twin five-spoke BBS alloy wheels and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR wing mirrors.

The boutique automaker subsequently returned the vehicle to the original specification and repainted it Porsche Arctic Silver to create a nice contrast with the specially commissioned BBS wheels. Recaro blue-and-black buckets are also featured, joined by blue four-point harnesses from Sabelt.

Even though it’s “an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a completely unique 1990s hypercar with an exceptional story,” it is almost impossible to estimate how wild the bidding will get. Considering that the closest equivalent to the Commendatore is the Pagani Zonda C12 from the '90s, we may be looking at half a million dollars, excluding the buyer’s premium - at the very least.
