Usually, when a Tesla Model S P100D happens to come across a Dodge Challenger Hellcat at the drag strip, something magical seems to happen.
As if Tesla and Dodge engineers had a secret meeting before these machines were released, most such brawls end up in the Tesla winning the actual competition (read: according to the numbers delivered at the end of the race), but the muscle car crossing the finish line first.

Then again, instead of using conspiracies to explain this, it's much simpler to turn to logic - even with Model S drivers being happy about their sprinting activities, they can't get anywhere near as motivated as muscle car drivers willing to protect their suck-squeeze-bang-blow pride, especially against a car that runs on electron juice.

Every now and then, a Hellcat driver overcooks things trying not to let the Tesla show him its sedan rear end. And that's how we end up with spectacular episodes such as the one shown in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.

As for the details of this particular Hellcat, we're not dealing with a machine that had been taken to the gym - this owner decided the 707 factory ponies are enough. Nevertheless, the guy did go for a drag strip-fitting shoeing job, gifting his Mopar machine with drag radials.

So, how did the guy behind the wheel of the P100D see the adventure? Well, let's hear it, in his YouTube words: "It's our first time out drag racing with our new P100D Tesla Model S, watch us race a Dodge Challenger Hellcat on Drag Radials 1/4 mile in an all out heads up drag race at Palm Beach International Raceway. Our Best run of the night was a 10.76 setting a new world record for an electric production car.

So yes, it was an overly exciting episode, which is even more impressive if we consider that the driver of the Model S used to own a Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale, which he traded for a Huracan.
