Tata Motors, India’s largest automaker, has announced the launch of the Tata Venture in BS3 form, which will be available in some parts of Maharashtra. According to the carmaker, the Venture is an MPV that can accommodate up to eight passengers in its three front-facing rows of seats.

The new vehicle is based on the Super Ace platform and is powered by a 1.4-liter turbodiesel engine that delivers 70 horsepower. Dual HVAC, power steering, power windows, reverse parking aid, keyless entry with engine immobilizer and rear wipers are just some of the features on this well equipped MPV.

“The less than 4 meter long Tata Venture can comfortably accommodate eight passengers in three front facing rows and has ample luggage space. A glasshouse effect with plug-in windows for second row passengers contributes to the distinctive exterior design while the contemporary interiors sport a two-tone beige and black theme,” stated the official press release.

The necessary structural rigidity is provided by a semi-monocoque chassis that has energy absorbing crumple zones built in. Tata says that the Venture meets domestic market safety requirements, thanks to its collapsible steering and side impact beams that protect passengers in care of an accident.

The Venture is offered in a 5,7 and 8 seat configuration and a rage of 5 colors and 3 trim levels. It is offered with a 2 year of 75,000 kilometer (46,000 mile) warranty, and will be available across 42 dealerships (20 passenger car dealerships and 22 commercial vehicle dealerships) in the first phase. Prices start at around INR400,000 ($8,750) and go up to INR500,000 ($10,900).
