The Fourth of July holiday is here and American roads will be facing many issues, such as that of drunk driving. However, the authorities are aiming to reduce this and, at least in Michigan, they’ve found an original way of tackling the problem.
To be more precise, Michigan is using talking urinal cakes placed in restrooms, which come with motion-activated audio message, as well as a printed message. Hundreds of restrooms have been fitted with these, most of them being in restaurants and bars, after other states have used the cakes with positive effects.
The projects uses federal funds, while the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA is using the classic way of dealing with drunk driving, by relying on billboards and public service announcements.
According to the NHTSA, over 10,000 Americans were killed due to alcohol-related crashes back in 2010.
