Celebrating 55 years of the Porsche Club of America (PCA), Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer announced the release of a limited edition Monaco watch. This edition also marks the year that PCA launched. Now with more than 100,000 members, PCA is the largest single-marque car club in the world.
“Porsche - one of the reasons we chose to create the limited edition TAG Heuer Monaco to celebrate our obsession: 55 timepieces, each representing one year of existence of our cherished club,” a TAG Heuer statement reads.
Legendary racer and actor Steve McQueen wore TAG Heuer’s Monaco watch in the Le Mans movie in 1971, which made some say that it helped the Monaco watch become the preferred chronograph of the racing and fashion worlds in the 1970s.
The McQueen’s inspired newly launched edition features special red and black rally strips on the dial along with a circled "55”, while the PCA logo is engraved into the sapphire exhibition back.
“The time is also legible in darker conditions thanks to the use of luminous substance on the steel hands and hour markers. Additionally, this Swiss made watch is secured to the wrist by a special black leather strap with racing holes and red stitching that is not available at retail,” the statement continues.
According to the manufacturer, there will only be 55 units of these watches made at the price of $5,500. They will be available to PCA members only and your PCA number must be specified when ordering. They can be ordered as of now, but deliveries are expected to take place starting September.
