Suzuki GSX-S1000GX+ With Factory Bags Is the Ride Adventurers Have Been Waiting For

The Suzuki GSX-S1000GX is one of those bikes all the riders with a soft spot for real all-rounders have been waiting for. The Japanese bike maker announced the arrival of the new model at the 2023 EICMA show in Italy as a sort of crossover between a sport-tourer and an adventure bike.
As with all other motorcycles playing in this segment, the GSX-S1000GX+ has the capacity to carry enough cargo to ensure the rider's survival on long stretches of road. The thing is, to properly equip the bike for long treks one needs to go for factory-supplied aftermarket hardware, and when taking into account the fitting of these bags, things can get pretty expensive.

In a bid to make things easier Suzuki announced last week the arrival in Europe of the GSX-S1000GX+, a version of the motorcycle that has bags fitted right from the factory floor. Although a bit more expensive than the regular version, it is slightly cheaper than going for the aftermarket treatment.

The elements that make the ride stand out are two color-coded bags that can hold 36 liters (9.5 gallons) of personal stuff. That's enough room, Suzuki says, to allow for each of them to carry a full-face helmet.

The bike is already available on the American market as the only entry in the bike maker's crossover lineup, with a sticker reading $18.499. It's over in Europe this machine is marking Suzuki's entry into the new year.

In the UK, for instance, the two-wheeler has a price of £15,599, which is £1,100 over the GSX-S1000GX. But that's still £175 cheaper than what one would get when going for the factory-supplied bags as an after-purchase installation.

Elsewhere, the bike is identical to the model family it is part of. The twin-spar aluminum frame holds in its embrace a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine with superbike DNA, capable of developing a staggering 150 horsepower and 106 Nm of torque.

The machine relies on semi-active suspension sourced from specialist Showa. This system allows for three selectable options, depending on how loaded the motorcycle is: solo, rider with passenger, and rider with cargo.

Stuff like cruise control, seven settings for the traction control system, cornering ABS, and a 6.5-ich color TFT screen are also part of the deal.

It too features the praised Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES), introduced into the world for the first time ever by this family of motorcycles. What the system does is automatically control the suspension of the bike.

It does this to change the damping and preload in response to speed, road surface, and the effects of braking on the bike's posture.

The GSX-S1000GX became available for purchase in the last month of last year. It was one of the most anticipated arrivals for the 2024 model year, and that means it's a ride we'll probably get to see a lot of in the coming months on the roads of the world.
