Americans like their cars big, and that is no longer a secret for anybody. But if someone needed a more number-based proof that this is so, then here it is: according to a study conducted by vehicle price specialist TrueCar, SUVs and trucks sell in 45 days or less, some 2 days faster than the passenger cars.
According to the data compiled by TrueCar, the midsized SUVs sell the fastest, in about 38 days since they arrived in the dealerships' parking lots, while large cars can take up to 68 days to sell. The slowest moving type of vehicles in the lot are the vans, which can spend up to 120 days in the inventory before finding a new owner.
"Trucks and SUVs typically have stronger sales in December because of snowy and icy conditions," said Jesse Toprak, TrueCar Industry Trends and Insights vice president. "Consumers should know that since these vehicles are selling well at this time of year, getting their specific SUV or truck could be harder to find at this time."
TrueCar has also created a top of the fastest moving vehicle in December. The number one spot is being occupied by the Hyundai Elantra, which spends 4 days on the dealerships' lot, followed by the BMW 535i xDrive, Nissan JUKE, Lexus LS 460 and Mitsubishi Outlander, each of them spending 10 days on the lot.
At the opposite end, the Toyota Camry Hybrid, which is sold, on average, after 120 days spent in the parking lot. Additional information about the fastest/slowest moving vehicles can be found at the following link.
