Folks, this might be it; the next stage in camper evolution, and may I say, it's going to be one hell of a ride! Oh, and it all begins with Super Pacific and its flagship, the X1, a camper like none other before it.
Ok, so to say that the X1 is unlike any camper I've ever seen may be a bit of a stretch; on the other hand, it isn't because, while the X1 may end up looking like those old-school truck-bed toppers, it's crafted with the most modern design and building techniques around, and above all, built to last ages using the freshest and strongest materials around.

But, before we take on the X1 and all that it means for us, let's take a look at the minds and hands behind the gear, Super Pacific. Now, much about this crew isn't known, except that the name was founded in 2019, and since then, they've basically been hard at work designing the one and only camper they offer, the X1. It's as simple as that.

As for the X1 itself, it's important to note that the starting price for one of these buggers is set at a tad under $13,000 (€11,800 at current exchange rates). But that's for a mid-size truck. If you've got a full-size beast, you'll need $13,500 (€12,300) to get your hands on one of these, and the rest of this article is simply going to be about how this thing is the off-grid camping solution you need to check out.

Everything begins with you and your truck, the latter of which seems to require absolutely no modifications whatsoever unless you want them, of course. From there, Super Pacific drops a "contractor-grade" canopy onto your bed. Now, this is half of the story, so listen closely.

Overall, that shell is crafted using laser-cut aluminum sheets, and to secure these panels, nothing but good old aircraft rivets are used. The rest of the components are CNC milled. The result of all this American craftsmanship? Nothing but an aerospace-grade machine to be used for an endless array of activities. I really mean that last it; this canopy is modular!

What do I mean? Well, aside from being a base for that roof-top tent, which I'll talk about shortly, this "topper" is designed with organizers where you can mount countless pieces of gear on both sides of these additional components. You'll also be able to access your goodies from three sides. Keep in mind that these gear panels you see in the image gallery can be mounted all around the interior of the shell, not so much the tailgate section. After all, this is one way to access the tent bedding.

Now, the X1 is a two-part story, as I mentioned, and we've already gone over most of the shell's magic, so how about that tent? After all, to ask $13,000 for an aluminum canopy and just any old tent would be a bit much, so Super Pacific has taken the time to craft something a bit different than the average.

First of all, I want to notice the level of integration that the tent and canopy unveil. It's like they're one happy couple holding hands. Even closed, it looks darn good! But once you've made it to your overnight destination, it's time to unfurl the magic. When you do, you'll be able to access a mobile bedroom fit for two, maybe three guests.

But there's a trick up the X1's sleeve. If you want, you don't have to use the tent as a bed at all. By removing some of the modular floorboards, you can create a full-standing (you can stand up vertically) space in the middle of your truck. When it's time to hit the hay, throw the boards back into place, and good night. One important feature to note is that Super Pacific states that this is a four-season tent, and that means a whole lot for future owners.

As for a few extras, you should know about, take note of those T-slots, allowing you to mount awnings, cross bars, solar panels, or whatever you feel like it. Oh, and speaking of solar, this whole dang thing is prewired for panels, and that's just one less worry.

Now, if you haven't already viewed the images gallery, now's the time. Why? I want you to imagine a few scenarios. Picture that you're a person that likes to explore the outdoors; considering that you're reading this, you probably are. Well, think about what you can do with a trinket like the X1. Load it up Friday afternoon with a cooler, a porta potty, and hit the road. Maybe throw a kayak on top or attach an e-bike rack to your hitch.

What if you're not an outdoorsman or woman by choice? Let's say it's your job. If that's the case, and you often find yourself out in the field overnight, the X1 seems to be more than worthy to keep you comfortable while on the job. Why not bring along an outdoor shower?

Listen, even if you're going to use the X1 to take your kids to school during the week, it still gets the job done, but the X1's real value is seen out in the wild, covered in mud, keeping your goods dry, and taking a beating from mother nature herself, all the while, protecting you. It looks like one heck of a piece of gear if you ask me. GG Super Pacific!
