Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., which also assembles the Toyota Camry alongside its own models, will reportedly drop the production of the former vehicle by 2017.
According to U.S media reports, Subaru Indiana will not renew another five-year contract to build the Camry.
"Based on changes in Toyota's production plans, they have decided that the award-winning Camry production contract will not be renewed," the Journal & Courier's jconline.com quoted Easterday as saying.
Subaru said earlier this year that it will boost its annual capacity from 170,000 to 300,000 vehicles by the end of 2016 and also add the production of the Impreza and discontinuing the Camry model will free up a total capacity of 400,000 Subaru vehicles at the plant.
Toyota declined to comment on the situation.
