Subaru Impreza STI Cosworth Official Info and Pictures Revealed

Ladies and Gentlemen, the hot hatch world has a new king: the Subaru Impreza STI Cosworth. If the Focus RS500, the Volkswagen Golf R and the rest of the lot would stop crying, we could go on with the presentation of the car... Cosworth’s specialists have done their (usual) best, managing to squeeze an extra 99 hp from the vehicle’s 2.5 liter boxer engine, which now develops 395 hp and has a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft.

The extra muscle has been achieved through the use of a new exhaust system and turbocharger, replaced with a custom one supplied by Garett. The powerplant has also received high performance pistons, new steel conrods and engine bearings, a redesigned head gasket and a beefier oil pump, with a new ECU software managing everything.

As the Impreza’s key asset is its handling, Cosworth has worked together with Eibach and Bilstein to develop a new suspension, fitting the car with new coil springs and bringing it 10mm closer to the road.

The Impreza STI Cosworth comes with a matching stopping power provided by the new AP racing front brakes, which use 13.7 inch discs and six piston calipers. To communicate with the road the car uses a set of 18 inch allow rims, that widen the tracks by 18 mm and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires.

All the rage under the bonnet means that the top spec Impreza can deal with the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in just 3.7 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The car can be distinguished by its new front bumper, redesigned grilles and fresh rear spoiler. Its passengers receive new Recaro seats and Piano Black finishes.

All the high performance drama comes with its price, as the car will retail for 49,995 pounds ($71,800), with only 75 units scheduled to be produced. The vehicles will only come with right hand drive.
