Stoner Leads Honda's 1-2-3 in Sepang Testing

Casey Stoner seems to be enjoying his MotoGP debut with Honda greatly these days, as the Australian rider topped yet another test session in Sepang on the saddle of his new RC212V. This is the third testing session (out of 6) this year at the end of which Stoner sets the fastest time of the pack, while keeping Honda's dominance intact in the timing reports.

With the weather clearly improving on a daily basis at the Sepang International Circuit, Honda secured the Top 3 positions at the end of the Tuesday action, with works riders Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso completing the unofficial podium of Day 2.

We tested a lot of different things including the 2011 fork and new shocks and we found quite a lot of chattering with them,” Stoner told the media at the end of Sepang's second day of testing. “We spent 90% of the day on one bike trying different configurations, changing the geometry to get the new fork working with the bike but didn't find anything that felt really good, but these things are necessary to do before the start of the season.”

We found the new forks to be quite amazing in the braking points, in hard breaking I didn't need to use half as much pressure and I was able to stop for the corner much quicker, but found a lot more chattering in the last part of the corner.

As before, Yamaha was next on the timing charts with works riders Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo completing the Top 5, despite the former's late crash in the afternoon. However, the news of the day (on a negative note) came from the Ducati garage, where Valentino Rossi was unable to resume testing on Tuesday due to illness.

Under the circumstances, Fausto Gresini's squad completed the Honda-Yamaha-Honda sandwich with Marco Simoncelli and Hiroshi Aoyama in 6th and 7th place respectively, while followed by another Yamaha, Tech 3's Colin Edwards. The first and only Ducati in the Top 10 was Hector Barbera's (Aspar), with Alvaro Bautista completing the top end of the classification for Suzuki.
