Unfortunately some riders are casting a very bad light on the motorcyclist community by acting in very stupid ways. One such rider is Leonard Ray Merrell IV, 19, of Lenoir City, TN, though we do believe he's not going to be riding for many years now.
The young rider was seen by police officer Gary Nelson aboard an unregistered motorbike, and caught speeding. As the officer turned the car and followed Merrell, the young man tried to lose him, but his poor riding skills almost caused bigger troubles.

After riding on the sidewalk almost hitting a construction worker, Merrell also hit hard the curb of the median grass of the street, causing his bike to literally become airborne and part of the seat to come loose.

Hanging hard to the handlebars, he managed to stay upright and made another attempt to flee from the pursuing police cruiser. He is filmed while trying to hide nearby a house and then makes a daring charge onto the police car. Reaching a lawn, he skidded and lost control of the bike, continuing his escape attempt on foot.

Funny thing, as Roane County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Tony Guy also joined the chase, Merrell was tackled by volunteer firefighter Michael Miller of Oliver Springs, who was visiting his grandmother in the neighborhood.

Officer Nelson yelled at Miller to help capturing the fleeing perpetrator, and so he did. Merrell is now facing multiple charges among which we only mention two counts of reckless endangerment, evading arrest, improper passing, speeding, driving into the wrong lane of travel on curves, and passing vehicles in a no-passing zone. Tough times ahead, Mr. Merrell...
