The Porsche 918 supercar is coming along nicely. The car has gone through high speed testing on the famous Nurburgring test track in Germany and now a prototype has moved towards sunny Spain to see if it can cope with the heat.
The 918 Spyder is going to be not only a successor to the Carrera GT, but also an answer to expensive petrol. It will be powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine and two electric motors. The first one delivers 107 hp to the front wheels, while the second one, which produces 121 hp is included in the gearbox assembly and motivates the rear axle. The system allows the driver to play with an overall output of over 770 hp.
These are the official figures, but while speaking at the American Le Mans Series Grand Prix, CEO Joe Lawrence has revealed that the 918 actually made over 800 horsepower during testing.
Besides being among the most expensive supercars on the planet, the 918 Spyder will also be the most green.
