As you know, the Porsche 911’s design has remained almost unchanged, with the current incarnation of the car using the same overall line as its 60s ancestor. However, the German carmaker is now working to develop a new generation of the rear-engined machine.
We just wanted to have a good laugh over the aforementioned design pathway, so we sent our team of spy photographers to see how Porsche is doing. Having received the images, we decided that we have to show you the true 911 - a cold-hearted beast, so we chose to strip the images of the background.
As you can see, the canvas top vehicle is wearing a serious amount of camouflage, hiding the all-important details. Porsche designers have chosen to to introduce a new layout for the headlights, placing them more upright, compared to those of the current model. At the same time, the exterior mirrors have migrated from the side window corners to the side of the doors.
The test vehicle was fitted with a multitude of fake elements, with the most important one being the headlights - the new generation will get new rear lights. In addition to that, the car was fitted with faux side air intakes, which were placed in front of the rear wheels. These elements can misleading, being a potential signal that we are dealing with the Turbo version of the car, when, in fact, we aren’t.
As for the tech side, the next generation of the 911 will come with a heftier flat-six engine as well as with the new PDK dual-clutch transmission.
