At the start of A-Class production in Rastatt, Germany, Mercedes announced this would be joined by another model built on the same platform next year, the car we know as the GLA crossover.
This GLA prototype has been spotted testing its electro-hydraulically controlled torque vectoring all-wheel drive 4Matic system during winter conditions.

The GLA has been testing for a while now, so expect it to make its debut sooner rather than later next year. When it does arrive onto the European market, it will target BMW’s X1, which is currently the best selling crossover in the premium segment.

There’s a high likelihood that the GLA will also make it to the US market, though since Mercedes has never offered a car of this size in America, it’s impossible to tell what the engine range will be like. BMW sells the X1 only with a powerful two-liter petrol engine or a straight-six, just like the 3-Series, but the GLA’s most powerful engine that we know off only has 211 horsepower.
