Here's the final piece of BMW's naming strategy, filling the last spot left between the 1 Series and the 7 Series. It's the new 2 Series, a coupe replacement for the E82 and based on the F20 architecture of the current hatchback.
Of course, everybody already knows about it, even though BMW hasn't revealed it yet. They've even leaked a few brochure scans, which is why we know this is either a 220i or a 220d model, most likely the basic petrol unit. If that's true, it means 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds thanks to 184 PS and 270 Nm of torque.
The new 2 Series will be revealed this year, possible at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. It will go on sale next year, initially in only three versions: 220i, 220d and M235i.
