Since the new X1 will be migrating to a front-wheel-drive platform, it’s quite important to see how the new crossover will deal with icy roads even covered with snow, right? That’s why a couple of prototypes were sent in Sweden for some prolonged testing.
The car out spy crew caught on camera here seems to be an M Sport 35i version, considering the big air intakes in the front bumper and the two tailpipes around the back.
In our previous reports, the car was even spotted next to its predecessor, showing us just how much it will grow in size. This time, it was caught next to some upcoming MINI models, confirming that it will use the same UKL platform as the British-built cars.
Most likely, the X1 will have xDrive versions too but I’m really curious what moniker the FWD ones will get. Since the RWD models are dubbed ‘sDrive’ what will be the name for the ones sending their power to the front wheels? fDrive?
