Having enjoyed its world premiere at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, the Panamera is getting ready to show its new face at the same venue, four years later.
Porsche seems to think they've done such a good job with the redesign that they're actually showing it off in full view. The evolution in Panamera design was taken to a place where it cannot go unseen, the Nurburgring track in Germany.
We've established from previous spyshots that the facelift actually brings two different front bumpers, this design likely being for performance models.
The front bumper has a completely redesigned shape, styled after the Sport Turismo Concept shown last year in Frankfurt. We're especially fond of the LED bars that have a ver distinctive and elegant shape.
Since we like Porsches and detective work so much, we tried to figure out what model Panamera this is. Ceramic brakes give us a clue, but not a definitive one. Upon closer inspection, we spot a radiator behind the front air intakes, likely pointing to a Turbo S model. Porsche will also likely launch the S Diesel, using the same 4.2-liter BiTDI engine as the Cayenne S Diesel, though this test prototype has the wrong exhaust for that.
The two video we've posted below of the barely disguised prototype spotted in Stuttgart by DrGumoLunatic should give you an even better ideal of what the new design elements will look like.
