Spyshots: 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Spotted in Colorado

Mercedes-Benz is planning on replacing its aging S-Class, which, in its current incarnation, the W221, has been on the market since 2005. The all-new model will be coming out next year, and after having been spotted a few times, it has been spotted yet again, this time in the US state of Colorado.
It is engineered to accommodate the firm’s latest technologies (seatbelt airbags, anybody?), and is probably going to be one of the most technologically-advanced cars in the world. The new model, dubbed the W222 will be available in both short and long-wheelbase editions, and a possible ‘special’ model, which would sit above the range topper, in order to compensate for the closure of the brand’s ultra-luxurious unit, Maybach.

Design-wise, we expect the W222 to follow the trend set by the new SL, facelifted GLK and even the new A-Class. Judging by what we can see in this camouflaged prototype, the rest of the body will be almost crease-free, preserving the conservative image associated with all S-Class models.
