Audi last year pushed back the development of the A3 to bring the A4 and A5 facelift, both desperately needed to fight of the new 3-Series. This is probably why only version of the car was unveiled in Geneva back in March, even though the architecture will underpin just about every front-drive car made by VAG.
After we showed you the latest rendering of the A3 sedan, which will also be built in China, we bring you the first photos of the new A3 5-Door Sportback. Unlike the previous generation, this does not come with an estate-like 
body, since there will not be two five-door versions of the A3, only this one.
The flexibility of the MQB platform is shown, however, as the wheelbase has been stretched slightly to create more passenger space. Inside, emphasis will be placed on simplicity and clean design.
