Our spy-photographers seems to have made a habit of stalking the 2012 Mercedes SLK, because today we bring you yet another set of photos showing the third generation of the model (for the fifth or sixth time already).

Unfortunately for those hoping that with the passing of time the SLK will show us a bit more skin, the new photos don't reveal more than the ones we presented back in May.

Still, it's a reassuring thought to know Mercedes still keeps at it. The SLK will be revealed in the following months, with some even hoping to see it at the Paris auto show this year. When it will show its face, it's hoped it will bring with it all the features that made the SLK what it is, plus a little extra.

Mercedes will fit under the hood of the car four and six-cylinder petrol engines, starting at around 180 hp. An AMG version is a certainty, powered by a smaller supercharged or turbocharged engine, a V6, instead of the current 5.4l V8. Rumor of a diesel unit finding its way into the SLK for the first time also gains in intensity.

Word on the street is that despite the downsizing the engine will pretty much maintain the same performance levels as the unit on the SLK AMG Black Series does today (that's 400 hp). Or even higher, as some suggest an output of 470 hp.

Visually, the car will go through severe changes, with a new grille and headlights to be seen at the front. The front nose of the SLK will change as well, boasting a more aggressive look than the Formula 1 inspired one on today's version.
