A big, technologically advanced SUV from a German company who's name translates as "People's Car"? That's just wrong… except the Touareg is a good piece of engineering, and it's about to get even better.
Our spy photographers have turned their cameras to video recording and shot this clip of the new Touareg model, a facelift which will likely be revealed within the next few months.
Launched in 2010, the second generation model still has quite a few old engines in its range, especially the non-European models. We've heard that the basic V6 TDI with 204 PS will be swapped for a newer 2.0 TDI, while the 240 PS version of the 3.0 TDI will be replaced by a 260 PS unit. US market representatives have said they want to get rid of the 3.6-liter FSI V6, replacing it with a smaller turbo.
Under that camo, a new three-bar upper grille will be flanked by revised headlight units. The overall look will be cleaner, much like the Golf 7's.
