Sportec SPR1M - Standstill to a Hundred in Three Seconds

Porsche tuner Sportec has outdone itself with its newest Porsche 997 Turbo based beast they call SPR1M. The car, soon to be unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, does naught to a hundred in three seconds thanks to its titanic 858 horsepower 880 Nm engine, autoblog.nl reported.

The SPR1M is propelled by a 3.6l engine with bi-turbo charging and two fuel-injectors per cylinder. The engine uses high performance charge-air intercooler, and carbon ram air intake system and is equipped with titanium con-rods.

This allows the T80 powerplant to keep accelerating the car to 200 km/hour in 8.6 seconds and reach a mind boggling 300 km/hour in 18.9 seconds. To help you cope with all that thrust, Sportec has fitted the SPR1M with a six gear manual transmission and a Sportec high-performance clutch. Suspension and aerodynamics have also been adjusted to face the extreme speeds the Porsche can develop.

The body of the Porsche is made of glued together carbon fiber and kevlar composite materials. Since the top speed of the vehicle is said to jump over an insane 380 km/hour, the Swiss tuner found it useful to fit the car with a safety cage to match the Alcantara leather interior.

Pricing for the SPR1M is not known, but even if it were, it wouldn't have done us much good. With only ten of them around, we will have to get used to driving a lesser 997...
