Back in July last year, Sportec offered us a Porsche 911 tuning package that plays in the stratosphere of the aftermarket world, the SPR1 R. Now, the Swiss tuner is introducing the SPR1 FL, an evolution of the aforementioned development.
We’ll start by explaining the vehicle’s name: the FL designation is connected to the new Smooth Flow intake manifold that uses two injectors per chamber. The vehicle’s boxer powerplant has also received other goodies such as a Carbon Ram Air intake system, two turbochargers and a high-performance intercooler. The unit delivers 858 hp and a maximum torque of 880 Nm (649 lb-ft). We have to mention that the previous incarnation of the project also allowed the driver to play with 858 hp, but offered a slightly smaller amount of torque (869 Nm or 641 lb-ft). The powerplant is mated to a revised six-speed manual gearbox that uses a Sportec high-performance clutch, coming with an oil cooling system.
The result of all that work is amazing: the 0 to 62 mph sprint is covered in 3 seconds, while the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) game is played in 9.7 seconds. To reach 186 mph (300 km/h) from a standstill, the car needs 18 seconds.
The list of exterior changes includes redesigned bumpers, new taillights that use LED technology, as well as new side mirrors.
We really love how Sportec describes the vehicle’s output, as the tuner invites to imagine that the car has the power of a Golf GTI at each wheel (actually, it has more than that).
