One of the vehicles that are fighting to bring the hot hatch game to a new level, the Golf VI R, has been taken further into the performance woods by the German tuner Sport-Wheels.The tuning house also offers a few exterior modifications for the vehicle, which allow it to stand out from the crowd without being too flashy.
The vehicle’s 2.0 liter TSI four cylinder turbocharged powerplant has received an ECU remap and a hand-made exhaust system that features 83 mm final pipes covered in carbon. The modifications have brought the unit’s power up from 270 hp to 330 hp and boosted its maximum torque from 350 Nm to 450 Nm.
“Sport-Wheels from Hurth near cologne presents racing atmosphere in XXL-format. The tuner gives to the Golf R a strongpower increase and performance without delimitations. After the increase in efficiency the two-litre engine TSI with DSG transmission supplies 330 HP and 450 Nm instead of standard 270 HP and 350 Nm,” stated the press release.
The Golf R also promises to handle better, as it has been fitted with an adjustable suspension supplied by KW. The vehicle rides on 20 inch OZ Ultraleggera HLT rims that are wrapped in 235/30 tires and bring a 12 kg weight reduction, compared to the standard ones. The wheels use a two-color finish that combines red with the car’s color.
The vehicle comes dressed in a custom reflex foil, which has been created by CoverEFX. It also features a set of special decals that allow it to offer a higher level of customization.
