A short while after we were showing you those crazy renderings found in some Japanese publications, some actual spyshots with a mysterious Lexus coupe have found their way into our mailbox.
The spy photos came with the “Lexus IS F Coupe” name on them but we think it may be something else though. Judging by its proportions, it resembles the Lexus RC F rendering we’ve seen earlier. It even has the same side vents near the front wheel arches.
It is hard to see the details beneath the heavy camouflage, but even so, the RC F concept renderings are the closest match for this coupe. Add the fact that the IS F nameplate is rumored to be discontinued and replaced with a two-door model and there you have it - the Lexus RC F as close to production as it gets for now.
The shapes of the front and rear fascia of this coupe also doesn’t resemble the IS sedan’s, while its exterior dimensions appear to be a bit bigger, making another strong hint that it won’t be an IS.
Although rumor is that this frowned beast will be powered by the 2UR-GSE 5-liter V8 engine, it’s pretty hard to say it will be true, especially since Lexus IS’ chief engineer said earlier that a naturally aspired V8 is not a good idea due to emission regulations.
Whatever powerplant will occupy the engine bay of this awesome coupe and how much power will it generate, this has to be similar to what propels the upcoming BMW M4, which will clearly be its main rival.
