Everyone and their dog are going bananas over the all-new Bronco mid-size SUV, but due to unprecedented circumstances, Ford has pushed back the orders and deliveries to January 20th and June, respectively. As such, some reservation holders are giving the Bronco Sport a try.
Under the boxy looks, the smaller of the two siblings actually hides the unibody vehicle architecture of the Escape, along with the same 1.5- and 2.0-liter engine options from the EcoBoost family. This is the reason the starting price of the Bronco Sport is $1,935 higher than the most affordable Escape, but still, only one of these two nameplates is truly desirable.

So desirable, Cars Direct reports dealer markups of $10,000 for the Badlands trim level. Supply and demand are one thing, but you should be aware what $10,000 means at the price point of the Bronco Sport. That kind of moolah can be spent on more capable alternatives, including the Jeep Wrangler with the Unlimited body style and Rubicon off-road trim level.

To be fair, the cited publication says that “most dealers aren't asking for $5,000 or even $10,000 markups. But the fact that the Bronco Sport is seeing strong demand means high prices despite a handful of incentives.”

If you’re really serious about the Bronco Sport, regardless of configuration, the best way to enter the club is to shop around. If the first dealer is asking for more hard-earned bucks than the sticker price, just go to another dealer that understands the process of customer loyalty. The same applies to the mid-engine Corvette, which can be purchased at the suggested retail price as long as you pick a respectable dealer such as Kerbeck and MacMulkin.

Prospective buyers should be aware that only one version of the Bronco Sport comes with a 2.0-liter turbo instead of the three-cylinder base engine, and obviously enough, I’m talking about the most expensive trim level. At the present moment, the Badlands is listed from $32,820, excluding $1,495 for the destination charge and an acquisition fee of $645.
