There have recently been a number of seemingly great offers for cheaper small cars in Britain recently. For instance, you can gave the new MG3 from £8,399, or the new Dacia Sandero, or the new MItsubishi Mirage.
But why bother with that when you can have a really cheap, reliable Skoda? The carmaker has announced today that it will offer a saving of 25% on the Fabia and Fabia Estate. For instance, they say that the price for the Fabia SE 1.2-liter has gone from £12,140 to just £8,995 – a reduction of £3,145. As for the estate, this drops from £13,560 to just £9,995.
Of course 25% off sounds like too sweet a deal. The way the press release is put together, we'd wager the price cut is only for quick delivery cars that are already on their lots, not ones you'd configure.
If that's the case, than you can only have the Fabia in Brilliant Silver Metallic and Denim Blue Metallic. The 1.2-liter engine is Skoda's own 3-cylinder unit producing 69 PS and 112 Nm of torque. In the regular hatch, that means 0 to 62mph in 15 seconds and a top speed of 101 mph.
Standard equipment on SE trim includes 15-inch alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, tinted glass, electric door mirrors, remote central locking, additional rear speakers for the audio system and a spare wheel.
Editor's note: The Fabia was actually on sale from £9,945 until now… I believe, so it's not exactly 25% off. Still, it's a good car for £8,995 if you only want a runnabout.
