Perhaps the best part of Singer 911s is that they emphasize the understated aura of the Neunelfer. After all, it's easy for a less-than-perfectly-trained eye to check out these Porsche and come to the conclusion they're sweet restomods, but can't be that fast.
Well, that would be a huge mistake, as proven by a Singer 4.0 nicknamed Florida Car, which was recently clocked doing 176.2 mph on an Idaho freeway. Fret not, this isn't a tale about a speeder shamelessly staining the brand.
While the redone 4.0-liter flat-six occupying the rear end of such a machine delivers 390 hp and 315 lb-ft of twist, the curb weight of the thing, which sits around 2,750 lbs, is what allows it to deliver impressive performance.
As for how such a Porsche would handle track day tasks, the Singer 911 4.0 could should be able to keep up with a 911 GT3 RS PDK, while obviously delivering a considerably spicier driving experience.
P.S.: If we had to find the Sun Valley Road Rally opposite of the Singer 911 (as in favoring raw power over driving involvement), this would probably by the Bugatti Veyron Vitesse "Hellbug", which went all the way to 230 mph during the event. You can find the 1,200 hp Bug's run at the bottom of the page.
We're talking about double benefits here
Instead, the Porscha took part in the 2016 Sun Valley Road Rally, an event that took place late last month, seeing go-fast machines being allowed to stretch their mechanical legs on a closed road, with the run including a downhill section that further encourages the drivers to make that speedometer needle travel as far as possible. So this Singer only took the performance flag further, while the driver did have to follow the rules and donate almost $2,000 to charity. So yes, we can speak of a double benefit here. While the redone 4.0-liter flat-six occupying the rear end of such a machine delivers 390 hp and 315 lb-ft of twist, the curb weight of the thing, which sits around 2,750 lbs, is what allows it to deliver impressive performance.
