The MSS Colchester Kawasaki British superbike team has recently announced they plan to sell Simon Andrews' BSB 09-10 race bike, together with a number plate and a day-time MOT. The bike reportedly cost over GBP70,000 ($112,500) to build and many more thousands to develop, Visordown says, but is up for grabs for just GBP25,000 ($40,200).
The machine has been designed in-keeping with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R road bike, but with additional branding from new high-profile sponsors Maxxis Tyres, Mac Tools and Confused.com.
Simon Andrews is currently getting ready for the Macau GP, loking to build on a fine debut in 2009. “Last year went far better than we anticipated for my debut on the road circuit and being the fastest newcomer was a real result. So we’re looking to build upon that this time now that we know what to expect but I won’t get too worked-up, I’m just going to concentrate on doing the best we can for the team and finishing our year well,” he said.
In the UK, the production 2011 Ninja ZX-10R comes in either black or green, and retails at GBP11,699 ($18,600) and GBP12,699 ($20,200) for the ABS equipped model. An additional sports package includes traction control and DTC, costing an extra GBP1,360 ($2,176).
Aside from a 60-plate registration the bike also comes with threaded tires, a starter motor and generator and a wide specification list, which is detailed below:
