Has it ever crossed your mind that while you are driving your car through town you are actually creating noise pollution? It is one of the least talked-about aspects of modern cars, but it is nevertheless important. Toyota is making the lack of engine noise the trump card of its new Yaris Hybrid.
They have launched an amusing ad campaign comprised of eight videos, in which a garbage bin, lamp post, ticket machine, parking meter and newspaper holders have a few conversations, discussing the problem of noise in the city and then ‘being silenced’ by the Yaris Hybrid as it passes by without making a noise.
For those who don’t know, the Yaris Hybrid features the same engine, drivetrain and running gear which one would find in Toyota’s Prius C. However, it gets a much more stylish body (even more so than that of the regular Yaris) and a higher quality interior, to appeal to the more mature European city car market. We like the Yaris Hybrid and we hope we get a chance to test one soon.
