Sheryl Crow Gives Away 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL for Charity

From time to time, the Pebble Beach Gooding & Co. auction company reveals not only “star cars” but also “cars of stars”. This year's event will host a rare appearance that has a story to tell, a story that adds up to the car's value. The auction will display a 1959 Mercedes 190SL which was donated by rock and country singer Sheryl Crow in order to help the Joplin Mo. tornado victims.

The singer’s gesture is one to be noted, giving the fact that we see less examples of fellowship these days. Sheryl Crow’s Mercedes will take its place at the auction along with other classics on August 21. The funds will go to the Joplin Schools Recovery Fund which was created by the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri.

“After the tornado in Joplin, I was moved to help rebuild a city so close to where I grew up in Missouri. My hope is that the auction of my 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL roadster will bring in funds to help rebuild the schools in the area,” Sheryl Crow was quoted as saying by Gooding & Co.

Crow’s 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL features a white matching hardtop which can be replaced with a optional black soft top. The car's restoration was completed in 2005, process which included replacing the brakes, suspension, radio and black leather interior.

The auction will take place at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center at the corner of Portola Road and Stevenson Drive. Another thing worth montioning that the 1959 Mrcedes-Benz 190SL expected preauction price will be around $50,000 to $80,000 and will be sold without a reserve.
