It may be called Los Santos in the virtual world, but we all know that the open world video game developed by Rockstar North takes place in a barely fictionalized and faithfully recreated version of Los Angeles. And since some of the people out there still haven’t had the chance to experience the latest installment of the controversial series, the nice folks over at Corridor Digital figured a couple of real life scenes would do the job.
And it did the job. Even though the Los Angeles-based company specializes in special visual effects and physical effects, it seems there weren’t a lot of modifications added to this clip. Even so, without plenty of coding, they managed to recreate accurately some of the game’s scenes with incredible detail.

The video includes stops at Venice Beach and the Getty Museum, with the proper bike-car theft that GTA5 got us accustomed with. But like any such video rendering, it’s all about the details. Looking closer, you’ll recognize the character’s distinct walk, the violence, pursuits, music and district names.

Now, in the actual game, the story in centered on the heist sequences, and many of the missions involve shooting and driving gameplay. Naturally, the YouTubers over at Corridor Digital weren’t able to replicate all the scenes, as in the punches are rather mimicked, there are no guns involved in any of the scenes and nobody gets caught. Other than that, everything is just like in the game.

The framing, the dollar bills that pop-up every time the character is stealing something, and the voices running in the background. In fact, that older generation Porsche Boxster looks quite authentic too, which is why the video had our attention in the first place.
