A vehicle that started life as a design for the German Army to use as a light transportation vehicle quickly turned into a sort of cult car for those people who want to make an anti-statement with their money. It’s body, heavy and an slow compared to other cars on the road, but somehow its class makes up for this.
Take the G55 AMG for instance! This car is equipped with a 5.5-liter V8, delivering 500 or so horsepower to all four wheels. The result is a decent sprint to 62 mph but a top speed of only 130 mph (210 km/h), which just about any decent sedan can do with half that power.
