If you're the kind of guy riding past the moment when most other riders call it a day and closed season, then you should be familiar with the Pinlock lenses. Pinlock lenses are a truly handy contraption to rid your helmet's visor from fogging and have proven their utility even when riding in a cold rain.
The thin transparent plastic has a different composition and behavior than the visor it attaches to and prevents fogging. We might say it stays “warmer” than the the visor even in severe cold so it won't allow the condensation of the humidity in the rider's breath, thus remaining fog-free.

Schuberth reminds Pinlock users to remove the protective film from the new lens prior to installing it. At the same time, the helmet manufacturer advises to check the tension in the lens, rotating the adjustable pins and thus making sure the Pinlock is tightly affixed to the visor. Any gaps between the two mean a place where moisture can enter and you'll end up with fogged areas on the visor.

For your convenience, Schuberth has prepared this PDF guide. However, we believe it will provide handy info for riders wearing other brands of helmets with Pinlock-enabled visors.
