Saturn Sends Encouraging Letter to Owners

The viability survival plan GM presented to the US Government on Tuesday contained, as we already reported, a large numbers of measures the company is going to take in order to survive the crisis and repay the loans it has contracted. Part of that plan involves setting the Saturn brand on the road of becoming an independent brand by 2011.

Saturn confirmed the informationtoday through a letter they supposedly sent via e-mail to some of their buyers, consumerist.com reported. The letter, signed by Saturn General Manager, Jill Lajdziak, stated that even if it is to become a self sufficient company, Saturn will keep on benefiting from GM's support in terms of parts and service operations.

"An independent Saturn would still have its great retailers, and it would continue to source current products from GM through 2011. If successful, SDC at that point would source products from other manufacturers."

Although this are rough times for the company, it seems its leaders are optimistic. Or at least try to appear so. It's like they've just found out their parents left for a few weeks and the house is all theirs.

"This is an exciting time at the Saturn Brand, and I have to confess, it feels a bit like it did back in the 1980s when the original Saturn project was being developed." You can even picture the woman clapping her hands, a big smile on her face and a good old fashion "Yippee!" on top of it all.

"Difficult times sometimes yield the most innovative solutions, and those who are willing to take on the challenge will emerge victorious. Stay tuned." she added. Isn't this one of Churchill's speeches?
