Satisfy Your Need for Speed with FANATEC's RennSport Wheel Stand

Playing Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, GRID or any other racing game using a wheel is probably the best gaming experience one could get when talking about this kind of games. And if force feedback functions are also included, the whole experience gets even closer to reality. Obviously, we're talking about a mix of a high-quality wheel with pedals and stick shift and one of the latest racing titles which usually require Pixel Shader 3 support, a large amount of RAM and a powerful Dual-Core processor.

However, playing a racing game using a wheel with pedals and gear shifter isn't as easy as it sounds. Pedals could easily slick under the computer or the console, the stick shift could be carried away while changing gears while the whole table could move due to the force feedback. And admit it, you hate it as much as we do. That's why the German manufacturer Fanatec unveiled a brand new wheel stand which resolves all the above-mentioned problems. No more skidding, no more mounting problems, the RennSport Wheel Stand holds the wheel, the stick shift and the pedal in place.

'How?' you may ask. Well, just like its name suggests, the device is actually a wheel stand which does even more than acting like a pedestal: you can enjoy your favorite racing game without the need for a table, allowing you to adjust its angle, its height and the pedal position.

And in case you think that the wheel stand will encounter serious shakes due to the wheel's force feedback, it won't happen because the device is made of a combination of solid steel and aluminum.

Let's get to more real things, such as compatibility. Well, compatibility may be a problem because it supports quite a limited line-up of wheels. Beside the obviously-supported Fanatec Porsche and Speedster racing wheels, the RennSport Wheel Stand also works with Logitech Driving Force and Force Pro, Logitech G25 and Microsoft wireless wheel.

The price may also be an impediment to the acquisition of the device. Fanatec says the stand will be available at an estimated price of $130 which is quite a high price if taking into consideration that it is actually NOT including the wheel, the pedals or the stick shift. Have a look at the adjacent photos to see the device in action and let us know what you think.
