Saab’s UK arm has appointed Paul Alder as the Head of Fleet Sales, a move that becomes effective on May 1st and is part of the company’s plan to gain market share in the fleet segment.
"We’re delighted to welcome Paul to the Saab team. Paul brings a wealth of experience of the motor industry and, in particular, the important Fleet market. Saab has a clear plan for 2010 and beyond and we need the right people to help us achieve our ambitions. I think this move endorses the industry view that Saab is back in 2010 and is serious about the fleet market,” said Jonathan Nash, Managing Director of Saab GB.
Alder formerly served as a Fleet marketing and Mobility Manager for Vauxhall. He joined the company through a university-to-job scheme in 1992 and has held various marketing and fleet positions ever since.
Saab, now owned by the Dutch exclusive vehicle maker Spyker, is making serious efforts to regain its position on the market. The company announced that it had resumed production last month and has introduced the new 9-5 sedan on the market.
On the UK market, the new 9-5 starts at 26,495 pounds (OTR price) for the 2.0 TiD (diesel) 160 hp Vector SE version and reaches 31,195 pounds(OTR price), for the model powered by the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine and equipped with the Aero package, which comes with 19 inch rims, bi-xenon headlights, electric powered sport seats and a sport chassis. The fresh model has undergone over 500,000 km of chassis testing on European roads during the pre-production phase.
