On the day when Jonsson announced his departure because of personal reasons, Saab revealed that it has appointed Armand Import as its main Russian partner. Armand will take over from GM CIS all the Saab-related operations in Russia, including marketing, sales and distribution.
The importer will rely on a network of 12 independent retailers in Russia, through which it will retails both the existing models in the lineup and the models to be launched in the future by Saab as part of the expansion process announced at the beginning of the year.
“I am delighted to announce this agreement with Armand Import. The company has a good track record in the Russian market and is, just like us, committed to excellent customer service and a long term approach to business partnerships,” said Jan Ake Jonsson.
“The Russian market is an important growth market where we see a lot of sales potential for the Saab brand. As we are currently in the middle of the largest ever product offensive in Saab’s history, this is a perfect time for Armand Import to team up with our organization.”
Earlier on Friday, Saab also announced a similar appointment for the Chinese market. There, the Shanghai GM operations will be taken over by the new partner of the manufacturer, China Automobile Trading (CATC).
