Saab is making new steps in the process of returning to the market as a “new” brand, with the company’s latest effort being to seek an importer for the Mexican, Brazilian and Argentine markets.
The importer role means that a company will have to cover the import and distribution of Saab vehicles and parts, as well as to establish a national dealer network and offer marketing support.
“As a first step in the recruitment process, Saab has engaged the services of the consultancy firm API LLC, based in the United States, who will begin evaluating potential candidates for an exclusive Saab distribution contract,” stated the press release.
Saab’s current swansong is the 9-5 sedan, with the vehicle leading the greatest product offensive in the automotive producer’s history, which will also see the 9-4X crossover and the wagon version of the 9-5 come to the market.
Saab is currently present in 53 countries around the world. The company’s South African appointments, which are scheduled to be made in the course of the next three months, are part of a major expansion plan for the region.
"These are exciting times for the Saab franchise as we continue to restructure our international operations," said Adrian Hallmark, Saab Automobile's Executive Director of Sales. "We are now seeking a long-term business partner with knowledge of the automotive market in Mexico. They must share our entrepreneurial approach to business and demonstrate a total commitment to customer service."
