Saab Production Resumes Next Week, 9-4X Rolls Off the Lines

Ever since Swedish manufacturer Saab bit off more that it could chew a few months ago, choking on a sizeable amount of cash and some scared suppliers, no one really knows how things are going in Trollhattan. And with the eyes of the world pinned on the financial problems of the company, there's no wonder that is so.

Slowly, however, thanks to the apparent relaxation of the cash flow, Saab's real business, car production, is falling back on track. The public story, reported by several international media outlets, is that Saab will resume production in Sweden next week, as a result of some eagerly anticipated Chinese money that would reach Saab soon and allow the suppliers to be paid.

An insider story, less advertised by the cash strapped Saab, says that production has already begun of a new model, at least elsewhere in the world. On Wednesday, Saab's favorite blogger, Steven Wade (so favorite that they offered him a job), reported that production of the 9-4x is already underway, and has been so ever since Monday 16th of May.

“It’s with no small amount of joy that I can point out to you that production of the 2011 model year Saab 9-4x started on Monday 16th of May,” Wade says in a very short post on now the company's blog.

“The 2011 models were all ordered by Saab dealers back in February and the model year’s entire production run is completely accounted for. Production of 2012 models will begin in a few months from now.”
