As we were mentioning last week, the fastest non-tuned Mercedes-Benz S-Class in history just had its media launch somewhere in Austria. Among the journalists invited there were also the Germans from Ausfahrt.tv, who decided that a video review in English would probably be a good idea.
We totally agree about the “good idea” bit, especially since it's long since we've seen such a thorough review of a car, with almost every little detail of the model being discussed in the nine-something minutes of the YouTube test drive. It's actually pretty fun to watch too, if you leave the somewhat Russian-sounding accent aside.
As you probably know by now, the new S 63 AMG uses the latest evolution of the M157 AMG engine, which is a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that develops 585 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque.
Together with the 7-speed multi-clutch transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel system (optional in Europe, standard in the US and not available in the UK), the W222 generation of the S 63 AMG can launch from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just four seconds, onwards to a top speed that's electronically-limited to either 250 km/h (155 mph) or 300 km/h (186 mph), depending on the optional upgrade.
