Ryan Newman Steals Victory from Kyle Busch

A 77-race Sprint Cup winless streak ended on Saturday ngiht for Ryan Newman at Phoenix International Raceway, with the No. 39 Chevrolet taking the win after a Kyle Busch dominated race.

Ryan Newman took advantage of a late-race caution in the race to steal the victory from Busch, the man who was on the verge of winning both NASCAR races this weekend, Busch was stopped by a caution flag which came out with three laps remaining.

 Busch took four tires and came out pit lane eighth, behind six cars which took only two tires and Jimmie Johnson, who took four. When Gordon spun his tires on the restart in a green-white-checker finish, Newman charged and took the lead, finishin g the race first.

"It's been a long time coming for me to get to Victory Lane," Newman said according to The Associated Press.. "I'm gracious to be here. This is the most emotional victory I've ever had in my entire career just because it's been so long."

"I couldn't believe it. I saw the white flag and I was like I don't have that far to go. Every restart, I had been on the inside and I couldn't get going. ... I held my line and got a good shot off Turn 2. That's all we needed."

Newman was seconded by Jeff Gordon, while Jimmie Johnson came in fourth. The top five was completed by Mark Martin and Juan Montoya. All the five top finishers of the Subway Fresh Fit 600 are driving Chevys…
