Russian drivers have a complete and utter disregard for the safety of pedestrians, often bordering on the barbaric. In this video, things never got that far, but the driver in the white Lada forgets to brake, as he approaches a crosswalk, where cars had already stopped to let pedestrians pass.
The driver does brake, but it is very late, and he is forced to pull hard to the left. He grazes two of the stopped cars, then pauses for a second. However, despite the fact that the crash was not severe at all, he decides that the best course of action is to flee, which is exactly what he does.
We really don`t get why the driver chose to make a run for it, as it would not have been a big deal at all, and if the local legislation allowed, they could have gone straight to the insurance company, bypassing the police altogether - we don`t really know what the laws are like in Russia, but there are quite a few states where this is possible, so it’s a fair assumption.
