Rolls-Royce is in the business of achieving perfection, whether it’s in making cars, honey, scale models, or in offering the ultimate luxury experience through an app. The 1:8 scale model now available is proof of that.
The marque is now offering a 1:8 scale model of its first SUV, the Cullinan, and it’s so perfect you might need to have a second look to realize it’s not an actual car. A pair of gloved human hands will also do the trick.
This scale Cullinan is the closest thing to the real-life one and it’s done in typical Rolls-Royce fashion. Every detail is replicated down to the T, everything is hand-made and hand-polished, and you even get the chance to create a bespoke version of the model, which will land you an exact model of the Cullinan sitting in your driveway.
Every miniature Cullinan measures 26 inches (66 cm) in length, 10 inches (25.4 cm) in width and 9 inches (22.8 cm) in height, and comes inside a display case that’s nearly 40 inches (101 cm) long. The display case has a Perspex window that can be removed for better viewing.
The models can be painted Tungsten or Arctic White, or you can opt for the bespoke version and pick one of the 40,000 available colors so you can have it match your real Cullinan. Each item features over 1,000 individual scale parts, down to the stitches on the upholstery and the 6.75-liter twin turbocharged V12 engine, all of them assembled by hand. It takes over 450 hours to put together one such model, which is more than half the time needed to assemble the real thing.
Many features are also functional, Rolls-Royce says in a press release. The Rolls-Royce remote control that is part of the package allows you to turn on and off the headlight and taillights, while opening any of the doors will light up the kickplates.
“This scale replica brings a new dimension to Cullinan’s Effortless, Everywhere philosophy. Our super-luxury SUV is now as perfectly at ease in the serene surroundings of its owner’s residence as it is in the most challenging and hostile terrain on Earth,” Rolls-Royce boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös says.
“It demonstrates, and reminds us as a company, that Inspiring Greatness applies at every scale. It is not just about the big things: we seek and achieve greatness in everything we do, down to the smallest item and minutest detail,” Müller-Ötvö adds.
Pricing for the scale model starts at $17,000 for the base model, which offers no customization, and can presumably go as high as your budget will allow it.
