We love the Dodge Ram 1500 TRX around here. There's something about a striking, aggressive, proverbial supercar shaped into the form of a pickup truck and given a tire and suspension setup that makes Baja 1000 trucks look meager by comparison. But if there were ever a criticism of the Ram TRX, it's that it's bar-none one of the most ostentatious show-off cars in a modern automotive clout war no one manufacturer could ever hope to win. But there is a solution to this problem.
If you want all the power, pomp, and circumstance that comes with a Ram 1500 TRX without a body that looks more ready for a hip-hop video than everyday life, the Rock Bottom Offroad shop is here to scratch that itch like never before. Based out of Lake Elsinore, California, Rock Bottom Offroad specializes in all things custom classic 4x4. From custom 4x4 chassis to suspension components and even high-quality paintwork, fans of old Broncos, Blazers, Jeeps, and more are in the right place to make their fantasies come alive.

That's why there might not be a better custom shop in America to take a 1971 Dodge D200 pickup, rip all its internals out, and replace everything with as much modern hardware as they could possibly cram into it for our endless amusement. In its day, the second-generation Dodge D-Series truck left the factory with any number of different Chrysler V8s ranging from 318 cubic inches up to the gargantuan 440-cubic-inch big boy. These were fantastic engines by almost all measures and capable of immense power if you so chose.

But they're all dwarfed by comparison because of the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 out of a modern Charger/Challenger that now sits under the hood of this restomod truck. The engine is paired to its new home using custom-fabricated motor mounts and it's paired to a ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic transmission that makes three-speed column shifted automatic in most D200 trucks look like it came from the stone age. With a beefy four-to-one transfer case pulling double duty for both drive axles and riding on a triangulated quad-link front and rear suspension, there are $100,000 luxury off-roaders without as much 4x4 prowess as this 52-year-old dinosaur.

That's a fact aided in larger part by chunky 37-inch by 12-inch Milestar Patagonia M/T off-road tires running on Black Rhino 17-inch beadlock wheels and adjustable coilover shocks from Fox Suspension. Thanks to some custom exterior trim modifications to the front grille and both bumpers, it's very likely that no other truck in the world looks quite like this one. Nor are most trucks out there quite as fast; it's just another perk of riding in a pickup built by one of America's premiere 4x4 parts suppliers. Congrats to Rock Bottom Offroad on one heck of a project.
