Rio Ferdinand Joins Jaguar Academy of Sport

The Jaguar Academy of Sport recently welcomed England football captain Rio Ferdinand as an Ambassador, joining an impressive list of names from the British sports world. The Jaguar Academy has a Bursary Fund, which will support new British sporting talent, as well as an annual Awards Ceremony.

Rio confirmed that he would be joining the exclusive list of sporting stars already signed up to the Academy to help Jaguar promote sports in the UK before he and his England team mates head off to South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

“I’m honored to be working with Jaguar as an Ambassador for the Academy of Sport helping to support the next generation of British talent, something close to my heart. I’m delighted to contribute to this initiative at a time when British sport is going to see huge levels of interest both in South Africa this summer and of course at London 2012,” Rio Ferdinand said in a release.

"We are delighted to add Rio to our roster of ambassadors in the Sports Academy programme. He's at the top of his game professionally and renowned for his generosity with his time in helping young people which helps us reinforce our message of contributing to the creation of the next generation of British sporting talent,” added Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK.

Other names on the Jaguar Academy Ambassadors list include Jamie Baulch, Tasha Danvers, Jessica Ennis, Mark Foster, Steven Gerrard, Sir Chris Hoy, Colin Jackson, Dave Roberts, Michael Vaughan, Lee Westwood and Shane Williams.
